From Breakdown to Breakthrough: What a Brain Injury Taught Me About Healing and the Science of Change

A few years ago, I experienced something that turned my life completely upside down: a brain injury. One day, I was a busy marketing professional, constantly in motion, thriving in the world of hospitality and creativity. The next, my body hit the brakes. Hard.
I couldn’t function the same way, physically, mentally, or emotionally. It felt like everything I knew was slipping through my hands. But that moment of collapse became the very beginning of something extraordinary.
A Different Kind of Healing
Conventional medicine placed me in a hospital bed, pumped with steroids that left my body swollen, my sleep disrupted, and my digestion in disarray. I felt drained, fragile, and far from myself. The side effects triggered social anxiety and a cascade of other symptoms—not even worth listing here—because they’re no longer part of my story. The good thing is that, during my recovery, something inside of me kept whispering: “There’s more to this than just physical rehab.”
And so, I followed the pull. I turned inward. I began exploring energy healing, not as a last resort, but as a way to reconnect with myself. Slowly, layer by layer, I started to feel a shift.
I wasn’t just healing symptoms, I was healing at the root. My body started to respond. My energy changed. My emotional patterns began to transform. I felt clearer, calmer, more connected than I had in years.
That’s when the curiosity began to build...
If energy healing could help me shift this much… what was actually happening in my brain and body?
The Science Behind the Shift
That question led me down the rabbit hole of neuroscience. I learned that the brain isn’t fixed, it’s constantly rewiring itself based on our thoughts, emotions, and experiences.
This is called neuroplasticity, and it means that even when we feel stuck, we are literally capable of change at the biological level.
I discovered that the body stores emotional experiences, and when we don’t process them, they show up as tension, illness, or chronic stress. And I learned that our nervous system, especially under long-term pressure, goes into fight, flight, or freeze… until we teach it how to feel safe again.
Healing wasn’t just “woo.” It was science. My experience with energy healing had activated something that science could actually explain.
Why I Now Teach This Work
As I continued to heal, and eventually made a full recovery, I realized I wasn’t just getting back to “normal.” I was becoming a more authentic, balanced, healthy version of myself.
And I knew I had to share this with others. After experiencing different retreats around the world with Dr. Joe Dispenza and, meeting an incredible community of amazing people hungry to learn about the abilities our mind and body have, to achieve and transform anything we want, then I decided to become a certified NeuroChangeSolutions consultant.
Now, I help people understand the science of change so they can rewire their brains, shift their emotional states, and create a life they actually feel good living.
In my workshops, we explore:
How stress impacts the body and decision-making
How to break patterns of anxiety, burnout, or self-sabotage
How thoughts and emotions affect our biology
How to use meditation, coherence, and intention to activate real change
It’s practical. It’s grounded in science. And it works.
Your Body Already Knows How to Heal, You Just Have to Listen
I believe healing is possible for anyone.
Whether you’re going through a health challenge, emotional upheaval, or just feel disconnected from your purpose, your brain and body already know how to find balance again. You just need the tools.
If my story resonates with you, and you're curious about how to start creating change in your own life, from the inside out, join me in one of my upcoming programs.
You don’t need to wait for a crisis to start your transformation.
This work isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering who you are before stress, trauma, or conditioning took over.
Your brain and body have the tools.
I’m just here to guide you back to them.
With love,
Maria
